Activision has officially announced that Infinity Ward is developing Call of Duty 2022, which will release in Q4 this year. Today, they officially announced that Call of Duty 2022 is officially a sequel to Modern Warfare 2019 and will also release with Warzone 2. Modern Warfare 2 confirmed for Call of Duty 2022! Call of Duty is officially heading back to the present day, with Modern Warfare 2 finally confirmed after huge speculation. Patrick Kelly stated “it should be obvious” that they’re working on the game after the huge success of 2019’s Modern Warfare, which has sold over 30 million copies. Call of Duty 2022 will be built on an entirely new game engine. This engine won’t just power that game, but will also act as the foundation of a “new Warzone experience.” The next iteration of Warzone is being built from the ground up alongside MW2, which will allow the games to work together seamlessly after years of issues and messy integration with other titles.
