Hot take: I really like the design of the iPhone 17 Pros. Not because it’s new (well, maybe partially), but rather because it’s industrial and utilitarian—function over form. Finally, it looks and feels less like jewelry and more like a professional media tool, which is what it should’ve been ever since it was called Pro. Aluminum may be easy to scratch and dent, and is much less premium than Titanium, but together with the vapor chamber, it significantly helps with thermals, resulting in less overheating and throttling, especially when shooting photos and videos under the Philippine sun. Still salty that there’s no black, though. I’d be so annoyed if Apple decides to release one mid-cycle haha. But you know what, this Silver is really growing on me, especially because it’s so easy to find cases to go well with it haha.
And yes, just like the previous years, I still chose the smaller Pro as my main device. Why I do, and you should probably too, I plan to share in a future video.
But despite the iPhones being the main characters, it’s the AirPods Pro 3 that I was excited about the most. Whether it sounds better is up for debate (IMO the APP2 sounds more well-rounded), but its Active Noise Cancellation is definitely better. Funny story, I thought the unit that I got was defective because of the whistling sound the right AirPod was making. Turns out my right ear was just congested! The whistling stopped after I had my ears professionally “declogged” by an ENT haha.
Now, I have to admit, I got the Apple Watch Series 11 mostly because it’s part of the Apple Trio (iPhone, AirPods, Watch); traditionally, our iPhone unboxing videos always include all three of them. And so for the first time, we got the base, non-cellular variant this year. It won’t replace my Titanium Series 10, and I’m most probably gonna sell it after. We’ll see. Timepieces are fashion accessories as well, so I tend to upgrade only when the new one has a different (and presumably better-looking) design.
