FF16 for 6 months:
Following the latest series of info dumps and interviews, Sony may have just let slip the biggest news of all: Final Fantasy XVI will only be a PlayStation 5 exclusive for six months. PC owners rejoice.
That’s according to a new PS5 “Play Like Never Before” sizzle reel posted on YouTube ahead of the holiday 2022 season. As spotted by Wario64, one section includes a subtitle that reads, “Final Fantasy XVI anticipated Summer 2023. PS5 exclusive for six months.” That would seem to imply that the game could be coming to PC via the Epic Games Store or Steam by the end of 2023 at the earliest, or more likely, the start of 2024. It’s unclear if this means an Xbox Series X/S version might also be a possibility down the line.
PS5 Price Hike Success:
During its latest earnings call, Sony revealed that the PlayStation 5 price increase didn’t impact the demand for this console. Players are still eager to get their hands on a PlayStation 5, despite the supply shortage and the higher price tag of Sony’s console in some regions.
In late August, Sony increased the price of PlayStation 5 in various countries including Europe, Canada, Australia, Japan, and China. This price increase amounted to about 10% of the original PlayStation 5 cost. Sony explained that the company needed to adjust the price of the PlayStation 5 due to general inflation and “adverse currency trends.” This price hike didn’t impact the United States.
PS4 Dead:
It’s never good news when it’s announced that game services, or entire games, are being taken offline. Losing media to the ether never to be seen again is always a massive shame, and try as they might, game preservationists can only do so much to make sure that the world doesn’t forget that some lost titles ever existed.
As reported by ComicBook, it’s now been confirmed that the military strategy game GUNS UP! will be shutting down as of next year. The free-to-play title, developed by Valkyrie Entertainment and published by PlayStation, “combines the fun of enemy base invasion with tower-defence, for an experience like no other”, according to its description on Steam.
