“Call of Duty Will Remain on PlayStation, Reaffirms Xbox. In a new blog post, Phil Spencer cleared the air about the Activision deal. In the post, he talked about how franchises like Call of Duty will be on Xbox Game Pass in the future amongst other things. One of the other key takeaways was that Spencer said Xbox is “committed” to making the same versions of Call of Duty available on PlayStation on the same day it releases on Xbox platforms. Spencer even mentioned how this can be beneficial, noting how Minecraft has had massive success on other platforms outside of Xbox.”

While the change has avoided the United States for now, the international market is surely a sign of what’s to come. America’s inflation rates have risen at a similar rate as other countries, and it is not immune to any global market shifts. In reality, Sony is most likely testing the waters to see if its sales are affected before launching a price change in America, its biggest market. If the demand remains high internationally, an escalation in the United States will certainly follow.”

“Sony sets up a PlayStation mobile gaming division in a major push beyond consoles. Sony also said on Monday it acquired Helsinki- and Berlin-based mobile game developer Savage Game Studios.
The move comes after a tough second quarter for Sony’s gaming division, and the company’s downgrading of its full-year profit forecast for the business as the Covid-induced boom — during which people were stuck at home playing video games — begins to fade. Sony has dominated the console market for several years, thanks to the PlayStation. But the company is now looking to diversify. This year, the Japanese gaming giant said it plans to release around 50% of games on PC and mobile by 2025, up from about a quarter currently.”

“Konami is About to Announce an Unknown Game in a ‘World-Loved’ Series. Konami is about to unveil an unknown game in a “world-loved” franchise at this year’s Tokyo Game Show, which takes place from September 15 to 18. As reported by Gematsu, Konami’s schedule for the show doesn’t say much about the game itself, only adding that voice actor Yuki Kaji will take to the stage to announce it.
Kaji is a pretty big name in video game voice acting, having appeared in Grand Theft Auto 5, Final Fantasy 13, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, and many, many more. He’s only appeared in three Konami games, however, two of which are part of the long-dormant Suikoden franchise and the other a Japanese-only game called Terror of the Stratus on PSP.”
