“Chinese juggernaut Tencent has purchased Slamfire, the parent company of Back 4 Blood developer Turtle Rock Studios. This means that the team will become part of the conglomerate, while retaining its “independent operations” in Lake Forest, California. The studio will continue to be fronted by co-founders Phil Robb and Chris Ashton, and the acquisition will have no impact on Back 4 Blood, which was published by Warner Bros.
“We are all looking forward to joining the Tencent family of studios,” Turtle Rock Studios president and general manager Steve Goldstein said in a press release.
Tencent’s Eddie Chan added: “We are huge fans of Turtle Rock’s games, especially their amazing approach to creating co-operative online games. We can’t wait to see what comes next, and we’re excited to be part of their future.”
In addition to Back 4 Blood, Turtle Rock Studios is behind titles like Evolve and Left 4 Dead. Tencent, meanwhile, has its fingers in a number of pies: in addition to publishing popular Chinese messaging apps like WeChat, it also has stakes in the likes of Epic Games, Bloober Team, and DONTNOD Entertainment.”

“Guerrilla has been keeping the Horizon Forbidden West hype train rolling with continuous juicy drops of information, and its most recent update comes in the form of a quick but gorgeous two-minute video showcasing three of the game’s new machines.
The “Machines of the Forbidden West” trailer shines a spotlight on the armoured Rollerback, the graceful Sunwing, and the acid-spitting Slitherfang, as well as glimpses at some of the rest.
Guerrilla also recently took to Twitter to share some screenshots of the long-awaited sequel running on PS4 hardware, to show that owners of the previous generation of PlayStation consoles will still be getting an incredibly good-looking game next year.”

But there was a time when Sony had much bigger ambitions for PS Now. Before the service made its debut, it was set to launch on smart TVs, Blu-ray players, PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita, and even smartphone and tablets — including iPhone and iPad. It eventually landed on PlayStation 4 and Windows PCs only.
A previously confidential Apple document, unearthed by The Verge from the Epic vs. Apple trial, shows that Cupertino had heard about a “mobile extension of an existing streaming service for PlayStation users, streaming access to over 450+ PS3 games to start, with PS4 games to follow.”
