“Sony’s relationship with their indie partners has been a little rocky over the last few months. First there the confusion over the closure of the PlayStation Vita Store where a lack of communication on Sony’s part saw several Vita games canceled. Then others took to Twitter in July to complain about PlayStation Store discount policies, the costs of having games on the store, and issues with communication again. At the time, Sony made no comment. However, according to the results of Sony’s 2021 Global Partner Survey obtained by IGN, Sony has identified three areas of improvement in an attempt to repair the damaged relationship with their PlayStation indie partners. The first area of improvement is to reduce the complexity of the relationship between Sony and indie partners. This includes areas like making sure partners understand the way Sony operates so the studios can make informed decisions, and improving communication, such as making it clear who will be working with the publishers over any concerns.

Established in 2002, you might not know the name immediately. However, Valkyrie Entertainment’s team has worked on Sony’s Twisted Metal series, Sucker Punch Productions’ Infamous Second Son, Sony Santa Monica’s God of War and the anticipated God of War: Ragnarok. As well as these, the developer has ties to other companies with their contributions to Warner Bros.’ Batman: Arkham Origins, Injustice 2, and Middle-earth: Shadow of War. More recently, it’s been credited on Xbox Game Studios’ Halo Infinite and actually has had a long-time collaboration with Microsoft on the first five Forza Motorsport games.”

The jailbreak, dubbed “pOOBs4,” is credited to noted PlayStation scene hacker/developers SpecterDev, ChendoChap, and Znullptr, with thanks given to Sleirsgoevy for their webkit browser exploit and (famous PlayStation hacking god) TheFloW for discovering the actual filesystem bug that allows this exploit to work. The jailbreak requires network access and a USB key with a special file on it. After that, the console is free to receivesent a payload from athe PC, such as the Mira Project custom firmware or the GoldHEN homebrew enabler. pOOBs4 is not the first time hackers have gained the ability to execute arbitrary code on the PlayStation 4, but it’s definitely the most notable because prior exploits required would-be exploiters to keep their systems on older firmware versions that most people had already left behind.”
