Sony has been hosting a set of events known as the State of Play, which give PlayStation fans a look into some upcoming games. These events are always exciting for the community, whether these provide an update for a game that’s coming soon, or announcing a brand-new game. The last State of Play showed off a variety of new games, from the PlayStation exclusive Sifu, to third-party titles such as Lost Judgment and Demon Slayer: The Hinokami Chronicles. With another State of Play event coming up, some speculate at what will be showcased.

From GameRant

“Fans have been waitintg to get another substantial look at the upcoming Hogwarts Legacy game for some time now, and if a recent rumor is to be believed, the wait could soon be over. In fact, it’s possible that fans will finally get another look at Hogwarts Legacy as early as next week thanks to the new PlayStation State of Play event, which will be focused on third-party games in development for PS4 and PS5 consoles.”

“It looks like new gameplay footage from Gotham Knights, the 2022 co-op game that is set within the world of Batman, may end up appearing during next week’s PlayStation State of Play presentation. Although WB Games or PlayStation have yet to confirm that Gotham Knights will be showing up during the forthcoming presentation, a recent development associated with PlayStation might hint that we could be slated to learn more about the title very soon. Within the past week, the official Gotham Knights game page on the official PlayStation website was found to have been updated by some users on Resetera. When looking at the page itself at this point in time, no major adjustments seem to have been made. However, something may have been altered with the landing page behind the scenes in anticipation of new information or details related to the project coming about. Given that a new PlayStation State of Play stream is taking place next week on October 27, it stands to reason that we could hear more about Gotham Knights at this time. “

From Eurogamer

“Intel has warned the ongoing global semiconductor shortage could continue into 2023.
The shortage has affected PC graphics cards, as well as supplies for Xbox, PlayStation and Switch consoles. The pandemic has caused a surge in PC and console sales with so many working from home and stuck indoors. New console releases by all three major companies have also contributed to increased demand. Despite the shortage, Microsoft has claimed the Xbox Series X/S are its “fastest-selling consoles ever”. The PlayStation 5 is also Sony’s fastest selling console.”

“Sony’s PlayStation Europe division recently post a job listing on Greenhouse. According to the listing, Sony is seeking software engineers who can help make an improved version of the PS5 within the Advanced Technology Group (ATG), PlayStation Studios’ “central technology” team. Some of the tasks in the job listing include “working on the rendering API that is used for all GPU programming on PlayStation 5” and “designing and developing new API features that allow [Sony] to get the most out of the PlayStation 5 hardware.” As noted by TheGamer’s Josh Coulson, this certainly makes it sound like players could expect to see a “PS5 Pro” — in line with the PS4 Pro seen in the last-gen — sometime in the near future. Even if it isn’t currently as powerful as the Xbox Series X, the existing PS5 still offers plenty of perks in the performance department. But by adding a more powerful GPU to a theoretical PS5 Pro, Sony’s next-gen console could easily match, if not surpass, its primary competitor. Having a next-generation refresh could also possibly alleviate availability issues of the PS5, which show no signs of getting better at the moment. Only time will tell.”
