“Sony and developer Sucker Punch have rolled out a new Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut Update for both PS4 and PS5. The new patch updates the game version to 2.07 (2.007.000 on PS5) and addresses several reported issues, including an issue where replayed missions wouldn’t grant the correct reward until the game was reloaded. In addition, this new update reducing the fast-travel haptic feedback length on PS5, and restores the missing Fundoshi for some New Game+ players. “With Death Stranding: Director’s Cut hitting the PlayStation 5 next month, it appears that Kojima might not be done with the world of Death Stranding just yet. In an interview with AdoroCinema, Norman Reedus spoke about his time with The Walking Dead but also let slip some information about the next video game project he could be working on. Death Stranding sold five million copies when it launches for PlayStation 4 in November 2019. The Director’s Cut launches for PlayStation 5 on September 24th 2021.”

“Chips In Consoles Get Pricier, Could Make Them Even Harder To Score. The global semiconductor industry suffered a potentially significant setback this week when Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. Nikkei Asia reports that TSMC could raise prices by as much as 20 percent. Yes, the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S make use of CPUs and GPUs developed by Advanced Micro Devices (AMD). As Tom’s Hardware reported in March, AMD is one of TSMC’s biggest customers. he PS5 is available in two models: a $500 standard edition and a $400 one that’s fundamentally the same but does not include a disc drive.

“PlayStation Finally Announces a Major Summer Showcase. Sony has announced PlayStation Showcase 2021, which will be broadcast on September 9 at 1pm Pacific / 4pm Eastern / 9pm UK (that’s September 10 at 6am AEST). The event promises to offer a “sneak peek at the future of PS5, with updates from PlayStation Studios and industry-leading devs,” and will last around 40 minutes. It will show off games releasing this holiday “and beyond”. One thing you can count on not being part of the show is the (still officially untitled) PlayStation VR 2. The new headset, and its next-gen controllers, is reportedly due late next year, and a PS Blog post about the event makes clear it won’t make an appearance in the showcase. It’s been a long wait for Sony to put out a summer event. Sony’s made no mention of specific games being shown at the event, but the “holiday and beyond” timing for games at the event means we could very well see Horizon: Forbidden West (recently delayed to February 2022) and God of War Ragnarok (also delayed to 2022). More speculatively, we could get word on The Last of Us Part 2’s standalone multiplayer, or perhaps even the reported remake of the original Last of Us.
