After Austin Evan’s teardown of the new PS5 unit, everyone was worried about the thermal output being hotter. Now that Digital Foundry has gotten their hands on one, they’re feeling confident that there is not an issue. According to Evan’s original teardown of the PlayStation 5 console, internal components are not of the same quality and that should be of some concern. The most notable being the PS5 heat sink which is made with aluminum instead of copper. Digital Foundry echos what others like Jeff Grubb have said saying that if the fan is not kicking into high gear, it is “absolutely fine” as the firmware would definitely tell it to kick on should in go above specification.
