A new State of Play is upon us! Join us this Wednesday March 9 at 2 PM Pacific / 5 PM Eastern / 11:00 PM CET for new reveals and eye-catching updates for PS5 and PS4 titles. Note: We won’t have any updates on PlayStation VR2 titles or hardware in this broadcast.

The show is clocking in around 20 minutes, give or take, with a special focus on highlighting great games coming from some of our beloved Japanese publishers, though we’ll have a few updates from other developers located around the world, too.

PlayStation held its first State of Play event of 2022 today, with a focus on games coming from Sony’s Japanese partners.

From new IPs like Capcom’s Exoprimal, to Returnal’s update bringing campaign co-op, to a JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure fighting game, here’s all of the news and trailers from today’s Sony State of Play. Stranger of Paradise is the Final Fantasy series’ take on the Dark Souls formula, coming from Nioh developer Team Ninja. The game is coming out next Tuesday, March 15, and there’s a new demo coming to the PlayStation store today so you can try it out one more time before the game releases. Luminous Productions’ Forspoken was just delayed from May 25 to October 11, but players looking forward to the game got another glimpse of gameplay during today’s State of Play. The footage showed the protaganist Frey roaming around the open world, taking on fantasy-inspired foes like dragons, undead creatures, and more. This newly-announced Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles collection features thirteen classic TMNT games, including Turtles in Time. Also shown in the State of Play trailer was Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Tournament Fighters, The Arcade Game, Back from the Sewer, Fall of the Foot Clan, The Manhattan Project, Radical Rescue, and The Hyper Stone. The game is coming to PS4 and PS5 this year. Trek to Yomi looks like a gorgeous homage to classic Samurai films, and we got our best look at it yet in today’s State of Play. It appears to feature intense 1-on-1 sword combat, as well as platforming and exploration through a black and white world. The game is coming this Spring to PS5 and PS4. PlayStation 5-exclusive Returnal is getting a huge free update later this month. Titled Ascension, the update brings two-player campaign co-op to the game, as well as a brand new survival mode about scaling a tower, taking out waves upon waves of Returnal’s enemies as you go. It won’t be long until you can dive into this new content, as the update drops on March 22, 2022. The DioField Chronicle is a brand new strategy RPG from Square Enix coming to PlayStation 4 and 5 later this year. This is a fully 3D take on the strategy genre, and the trailer set up the story of the three kingdoms the game will focus on. The final announcement of the show, Valkyrie Elysium is coming to PlayStation 4 and 5 in 2022. The game is a new entry in Square Enix’s Valkyrie Profile series, which hasn’t seen a home console entry since 2006’s Valkyrie Profile 2: Silmeria on the PlayStation 2. We got a quick look at gameplay, which showed magic and sword combat against a variety of beast-like foes.
