F1, Codemasters long running series has now received its 2021 iteration. F1 2021 is a landmark title because this is the first game in the series that will be made available on the PS5 and Xbox Series X as well. So, how does the game perform on the newest consoles and PC platform? Let’s find out. Before we move forward, note that we analysed the performance by taking some sample scenes from the game and running it through trdrop, an open source software. Note that this tool gives us a mere demonstration of the game’s performance, because an exact 1:1 representation of performance can only be provided by the developers themselves since they have access to a vast array of tools and profilers.
F1 2021 features two visual modes on the PS5 and Xbox Series X. They are Quality and Graphics mode. In this video we will only focus on the game’s quality mode. However, it must be noted that Performance mode targets 120 frames per second at 1440p resolution on both the PS5 and Xbox Series X. F1 2021 in Quality mode targets 4k resolution and 60 frames per second on both the PS5 and Xbox Series X, and this target is achieved on both consoles. The PC version on the other hand has a lot of flexibility depending on the hardware you have but it’s quite clear that F1 2021 on PC has the lead in several graphical parameters, compared to its console counterparts. Regardless of the platform you choose to play the game on, you can’t go wrong with F1 2021. It’s an exceptional racing game and one that you definitely need to experience if you are a fan of the genre.
